Activision's second band-centric Guitar Hero comes down under.

Headlining the list of games hitting Aussie stores this week is Guitar Hero Metallica. As the name would suggest, the core soundtrack for GHM is comprised of Metallica tunes, but other tracks by artists like Queen, Motorhead, and Slayer have made it into the game. New songs aside, the biggest addition to the game is the new Expert+ mode, which adds in a new difficulty mode for drummers, allowing you to plug in an extra drum pedal for certain songs. When it comes out on Wednesday, Guitar Hero: Metallica will be available as standalone software on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, and Wii, or bundled with a guitar in a “solo bundle” for each of the four platforms.

Eidos is signing on for another naval tour of World War II with Battlestations: Pacific. Like the original game from 2007, you'll be commanding ships, submarines and planes as you play either the American campaign spanning from the Battle of Midway through to Okinawa, or the Japanese campaign where you'll play an alternate reality, in which the Japanese win Midway and eventually invade the United States. Along the way you'll even get to attack Sydney Harbour with a submarine. As for the multiplayer, there's your standard assortment of competitive multiplayer modes, including escort, death match, and many more. Prepare to take to the high seas this Friday when Battlestations: Pacific sails out on 360 and PC on Thursday.

1. Mediterranean Sea: Niflheim

Kraken Upper Level: Find the ledge that runs above the entrance and climb up to the platform above it. Smash the two urns, which contain treasure, then take a running jump to the right and crawl under the rubble. The relic is on the left side of the small room.

2. Coastal Thailand: Map Room

Go left along the edge of the map room, before exiting. Jump off to the right and wall run to the outer walkway below the exit. Pull the bridge counter clockwise as far as it will go, then jump up. The relic is behind the left shoulder of the Thor statue.

3. Croft Manor: Chapel

Before completing the Chapel Door puzzle, place two blocks on the pressure plate in the first passageway you went through. The relic is behind the metal grate in this passageway.

4. Southern Mexico: Jormungandr's Pool

After obtaining Thor's belt, use the grapple to return Thor's hammer to its original position and jump on top of it. The relic is in the statue's right eye.

5. Jan Mayen Island: Valhalla Tunnels

Maze Beyond the Gate of the Dead: Go right at the first two intersections, then left at the next two. Just past the fifth intersection is a stone block. Move it underneath the horizontal pole slot. Place the pole in the hole and climb up. Use your bike to race back to the intersection before the Gate of the Dead. Go straight and follow the path as it turns right. Hang a left at the next intersection and go through the door before it closes. The relic is in the middle of the room.

Have a good news for every gamer. Eurogamer has released a bunch new preview shot of most exciting racing game "Superstar V8" showing several cars on a bunch of a track. The shot included BMW,JAGUAR, CADDILAC & Many new model racing cars.

Officially licensed by the European Superstars Championship, the title will include all cars and tracks of the Italian series. That includes popular race cars like the Audi RS4, the BMW M5 and other V8-powered machinery that races on Italian tracks as well as at Portimao and Kyalami.

Electronic Theatre has today received an updated release schedule for Electronic Arts’ forthcoming videogame titles. Obtained through partners in the independent retail sector, the schedule reveals the intended European release dates for a handful of titles due to arrive on shop shelves throughout both May and June.

While some of these dates had previously been hinted towards, it’ll undoubtedly come as a relief to many European gamers that Wii’s version of Rock Band 2 will finally be arriving later this month, and of course the first outing for the franchise on a handheld, in the form of Rock Band Unplugged for PlayStation Portable (PSP).

The Sims 3 remains at its previously announced early June date, and more of Electronic Arts’ aggressive Wii strategy will be arriving to keep you active this Summer.

The first thing that becomes apparent is that Damnation isn't a pure shooter. Like Tomb Raider and Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, it combines gun combat with liberal amounts of platforming. Just as often as you mow down waves of enemies, you'll be shimmying along ledges and leaping over gaps. This level, which takes place in the shadow of the Rocky Mountains, introduces Blue Omega's philosophy of putting you in a wide-open area with a simple, visible goal made complicated by treacherous terrain. In this case, you see a bridge looming in the distance that you need to get to, but with a slight problem: Between you and that bridge is a seemingly bottomless chasm. You need to work your way along the outlying cliffs and through the run-down buildings that stand in the path between you and the bridge.

Rourke begins by shooting down the chains holding up a drawbridge so he can clear the first gap. Once over, his group of non-player characters spies a zip line stretching across an even larger gap. Your team needs to jump and grab the line, one by one, then slide down to the next area. Greeting you when you land is a group of Prescott's forces, soldiers with glowing masks and powerful guns that display the game's steampunk aesthetic. With the gun combat, you manually aim from the third-person perspective, using a variety of fictional weaponry that feels very futuristic for the turn-of-the-century setting. Adding a slight twist to the combat is your ability to engage a spirit vision, which temporarily allows you to sense where far-off enemies are by rendering them in a glowing red hue while desaturating everything else within view.

The space between these shootouts is filled with exploration sequences. Rourke is quite the athletic adventurer, which is good, because he has all manner of towering buildings and natural obstacles ahead of him. Beyond the usual leaping over long gaps, you'll need to perform various acts of athletic prowess, such as holding onto ledges to perform a backward jump, flipping up walls by grabbing ledges above you as you face outward, and, occasionally, just plain diving through glass windows. In our session, we didn't pick up on anything terribly revolutionary about this platforming, but the animation was slick and the level design looked intriguing. At this point, the climbing and jumping portion is looking much more compelling than the shooting.

There will also be vehicles in the game, but unfortunately, we didn't get the chance to see any of them. Another intriguing feature that was mentioned is two-player co-op. Following Rourke around is his gang of NPC allies, but at any point in the game, you can have a friend assume control of one of these characters. On the down side, it doesn't sound like there will be much interaction between players in terms of platforming. So rather than having one player give another a boost to make it over a large wall, teamwork looks to be more of the communicating and giving directions variety.

Visually, Damnation is looking nice. There's a sort of Wild West steampunk look to the characters and weapons, as well as a great sense of scale given to you as you gaze over the chasm at the beginning of the level, with the Rocky Mountains towering in the distance. The voice acting seems a little stiff at this point, but that may or may not be a product of its early stage of development. Damnation is scheduled for release later this year on the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. You can expect to see more coverage as information becomes available.

A realistic war-zone atmosphere and rewarding stealth action make this an intense look at World War II, despite some problems.
Velvet Assassin makes heavy use of darkness to bring to light the events of World War II. As an espionage agent fighting behind enemy lines, you slip in and out of shadows, silently stalking through dimly lit streets and grimy prisons as you attempt to sabotage the Nazi war effort. But the darkness in Velvet Assassin is more than just a cover for satisfying stealth play. The grim realities of war are also present, giving added weight to your objectives and a moral backbone to your killings. As you slink through burning Parisian villages and witness innocent civilians being executed for no reason, the chilling brutality of war becomes clear. The unsettling atmosphere drives you ever deeper into this ravaged land, but a few gameplay problems hinder the suspension of disbelief. Sluggish gunplay and nonexistent enemy intelligence make your actions feel artificial at times, lessening the impact of these atrocities. However, Velvet Assassin is largely able to rise above these issues and present a powerful, unnerving look at one of history's darkest periods.

Only the NHL and FIFA games had PC ports last year. Well PC football fans who were hoping EA might reverse itself with this year's Madden just got hit with some bad news. While the often-delayed Huxley has long proclaimed itself the premiere MMORPG shooter, it seems a new contender is emerging in hopes of claiming that particular genre-hybrid crown. Vogster's urban gang-themed CrimeCraft is gunning down a very similar path, offering the mouse-and-keyboard crowd a dedicated shooter covered in an appealing MMORPG paint job. The title's developers are calling the Unreal 3 Engine-powered project a "PWNS" or persistent world next-gen shooter, and they're quick to point out it's a shooter first and an MMORPG second.


Sure enough, a quick glance at the action reveals scenarios that'll be instantly familiar to anyone who's ever hopped online and peered down the virtual sights; well-armed avatars running around maps littered with cover points, blowing the crap out of each other and the environment. And while we only got behind the trigger briefly, it certainly feels as though CrimeCraft has got the running and gunning down pat. The character controls are tight, the aiming precise, and unloading a clip carried the appropriate audio and visual kick. Nothing especially ground breaking, but the focus on twitchy action over tactical strategy is consistent with a tried and true formula that's kept PC players fragging friends for years.

Guns, grenades, and fashion accessories
What impressed us more than the solid shooting, though, was CrimeCraft's MMORPG side. Despite the focus on firefights, it's also retaining much of the deep customization you'd expect from the genre. Of course, you'll be able to personalize your own gang-banger; from minor facial details to wardrobe selections, no two ass-cappin' characters will look alike. In our demo, we got behind the ass-kicking and attitude of a female hottie - complete with painted-on jeans and cowboy hat - who wouldn't have looked out of place prowling the streets of Saints Row's Stilwater.

While character customization is expected in an MMORPG, the extent to which you can tweak your weapons should impress even the most seasoned social gaming fans. A robust crafting component will allow you to outfit your guns with a variety of scopes, stocks, laser sights, and other skill-amping accessories, but more passive pimping will allow the truly creative to toss polka dot grenades or cover their AK-47 in tiger stripes, if they so desire.

Good to be a gangsta'
Even cooler is the ability to outfit your clan or "gang" with similar guns and gear. So, if you and your crew want to rule the streets with pink pistols and berets to match, go for it - just plan on being the target of ... everyone. Gangs can also personalize their own cribs with plenty of cosmetic touches and, at higher ranks, with crafting stations, which in addition to creating weapon upgrades, can also manufacture performance-enhancing boosts (the developer wouldn't call them drugs, but c'mon, we weren't born yesterday).

Rounding out the gangsta' specific traits are passive and active abilities that'll assist your gun-toting baddie on the urban battlefield with things like health perks or Molotov cocktail-constructing skills. With over 40 of these abilities - you can only equip three at a time - gangs will have to carefully coordinate to ensure its members strategically play off each others' strengths and weaknesses. This gang-focused gameplay, supported by intense, intimate battles of up to eight-on-eight, could shake things up in a genre currently dominated by military shooters and fantasy world hack-and-slashers. Toss in all the MMORPG trappings, and CrimeCraft could even see a few of Azeroth's inhabitants trading their broad swords for sawed-off shotguns.
