Gears of War was first released for Xbox 360 on 7 November, 2006. Then PC version of the Gears of War was released just a day short of the first anniversary of the Xbox 360 version of the game. Gears of War is developed by Epic Games, and is being published by Microsoft except Germany where Microsoft was denied rating. Gears of War is a tactical third-person shooter game. One specialty added in the game is the over-the-shoulder camera angle. A free Gears of War demo for PC is not available for download.

Cover is what Epic Games laid more emphasis on. If you don’t have any cover, then you may have died, in the Gears of War. So utility of cover finds important place in Gears of War. Another thing is that unlike other war games, Gears of War features very less variety of weapons. This might not sound good to some but this feature as I think is good because you go for hand-to-hand fight with your enemies instead of dealing with them using large quantity of weapons.

Gears of War is centered around Delta Squad, who is here to save humans from Locust Horde. Humans are shown to live on planet Sera who are exposed to dangers of harsh Locust Horde. Main player assumes the character of Marcus Fenix. He is a war hardened soldier but also a former prisoner. The story of Gears of War is positioned around four men of Delta Squad whose prime objective is to fight with relentless Locust Horde to save the population of human inhabitants living on the fictional planet Sera.

A Gears of War features four playing modes. These are single-player mode, multiplayer mode, system link, and co-operative mode. The four main characters of the Gears of War are Baird, Cole, Dom, and Marcus. Marcus Fenix is the main character of the game. In multiplayer and co-operative modes, other players can take the role of the friend of Marcus Fenix.

If there are pros, there are cons too. The con and the only con that I noticed in the Gears of War is its high system requirements which many of you might not be having. At last, I just wanted to tell you that this is very good game that you can play on your PC. After all, it has won many awards; many of its copies have been sold, and is given positive rating by many games review magazines. So please go ahead and grab your full copy of Gears of War.
