Assassin’s Creed is third person stealth based action-adventure video game developed and published by Ubisoft. It is developed on Scimitar Game Engine and is available in single player mode only. Assassin’s Creed is released for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Windows. The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions were released in November, 2007 worldwide but Assassin’s Creed PC version for Windows is released only yet, this month. The game is being credited to its creative director Patrice Desilets and producer Jade Raymond.

The plot for the Assassin’s Creed is set in the year 2012 where Desmond Miles get captured by unknown persons and obliged to the place where research on Animus is going on. Player takes the character of Desmond Miles, a bartender who is also the last descendent of the family. Desmond Miles is scanned through the Animus to recreate his ancestral memories during the Third Crusade. Researchers then got to know about Altair allied with the one of the side during the Third Crusade whose aim is to complete nine assassinations. Player makes use of stealth based techniques to complete objectives in the game. The whole story of Assassin’s Creed revolves around these nine assassinations.

By almost the same time it got released, Assassin’s Creed: Altair’s Chronicles was also released for Nintendo DS. Demo of Assassin’s Creed was shown on 10 July, 2007 at the E3 conference. The game includes significant number of improvements over the previous versions. Some of the improvements made in the game are improved chasing system, crowd performance and deeper aspects of free running. PC version includes four bonus missions that were not included in the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3. Bad news about the Assassin’s Creed PC release is that the torrent was available on the Internet before it was originally released for Windows PC.

Assassin’ Creed got very positive reviews from various reviewers. It is highly acclaimed and fully accepted. However game has also been criticized for its gameplay by some reviewers. But for the Ubisoft the game is big hit. According to them, more than 3.46 million copies of the Assassin’s Creed have been sold by the March 1, 2008 prior to the release for PC. It has also won many best game and game of the year awards.
