Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos or Warcraft 3 or War3 or WC3, whatever you call it to be, is the second sequel to the Warcraft: Orcs & Humans. It is the third game to be set in the Universe of Warcraft. It is created and marketed by Blizzard Entertainment. Sierra Entertainment and CapCom are also behind the marketing of the game. The game was designed by Rob Pardo for Blizzard Entertainment. It was released on 3 July, 2002 in North America and subsequently for Europe and Japan. Warcraft 3 is released for Windows, and Mac OS based PCs only. Warcraft 3 is the real time strategy game that was one of the most popular games after release. Unlike its predecessors, the game has different gameplay. Objectives are similar to previous Warcraft games where player needs to defeat the enemies that are controlled by computer in single player. However, players can play against other players in multi-player mode of Warcraft 3 as well. The game’s map is varying consisting of plains, rivers, mountains etc. Warcraft 3 includes new units called Creeps that are hostile to players and guard their buildings and other resources. Creeps sleep at night but continue to work during the day.

Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos plot is set after the Warcraft: Orcs & Humans. There are four campaigns in the game. These campaigns are laid on the basis of the campaigns of StarCraft. Along with Orca & humans, players can also play Night Elves and Undead races. There are special units called Heroes in the game. They increases their skills and defense and can attain a maximum level of 10. Player can control one or more hero throughout the game. In multiplayer, player’s sole aim is to destroy opponents. Multiplayer campaigns can be recorded and viewed just as in StarCraft. The multiplayer version is played on the Battle.net through broadband Internet.

Warcraft 3’s collector edition was also released by Blizzard Entertainment that contained cinematic and scenes behind the screen from the game. An overwhelming response was received by the game. It was the biggest hit of that time. Gamespot highly appreciated the actions in the game. However, it was criticized for player’s inability to change Arthas fate.
