Wet towels off September 15
Bethesda and A2M's stylized third-person action adventure emerges onto Xbox 360, PS3 this fall; Euro launch set for Sept. 18.
Artificial Mind and Movement's Wet was perhaps the most risque of Vivendi Games' portfolio to be cut as part of the Activision Blizzard merger in 2008. As such, it wasn't altogether surprising that the game was one of the last to land a new publishing deal. But land a deal A2M did, as the Canadian studio announced in May that Fallout 3 purveyor Bethesda Softworks would serve as the game's publisher on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this fall.
Today, Bethesda and A2M nailed down a specific release date for Wet, saying the game would slip onto retail shelves in North America on September 15, with the European launch following on September 18. A stylized, story-oriented third-person shooter, Wet quickly became known for its double-entendre title, nubile heroine, and genre-bending mix of third-person shooter and Prince of Persia-esque acrobatics.
Despite Wet's provocative aesthetic, A2M studio head Denis Lacasse told GameSpot in May that the game is less about titillation as it is creating a unique gaming experience. "Our game is really about style and over-the-top action/universe," he said. "We are trying to bring to the game space a fresh style and unique genre, combined with innovative game mechanics, in a package that is daring and a lot of fun."
